Asai Asaithambi received his PhD in computer sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is currently the director of the School of Computing at the University of North Florida. He is interested in computational methods for scientific and engineering problems, as well as global optimization, especially using interval methods, algorithmic differentiation, and parallel methods. He is also interested in broadening participation in computing by underrepresented groups. He has authored a textbook, Numerical Analysis: Theory and Practice, and over 40 articles in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He has been on numerous national and international conference organizing committees, and serves as reviewer for several journals in the area of scientific computing.
