Risk management--a key to security in the electronic funds transfer system
Richards R., Yestingsmeier J. Computers and Security5 (2):135-140,1986.Type:Article
Date Reviewed: Jan 1 1987

This is a short summary which mentions once almost every topic related to EFTS security management. Since so many topics are mentioned in so few pages (including insurance, consumer protection, auditing, etc.), none can be covered in any depth. Points are made and supporting detail is absent. Encryption is “very effective,” but no specific schemes are referred to. Consumers are said to be distrustful of EFTS, although no supporting evidence is offered or referenced. Nearly all the “references” (the paper is not footnoted) are other secondary sources. I suppose the paper is directed at managers who will be induced to call the authors and use their services for more specific information. This is not the stuff of research journals.
