Crowdsourcing is heavily dependent on mutual trust between key stakeholders in order to succeed, and lack of trust often leads to failures. Even exclusive platforms created to support crowdsourcing haven’t been able to increase mutual trust.

A key proposal put forward in this paper pertains to the possibility of bridging the trust deficit between stakeholders participating in a crowdsourcing project by enabling the crowdsourcing platform with blockchain technology.

The authors release the architecture design of the crowdsourcing platform in their paper:

The platform adopts three layers ... from the bottom to top are basic layer, core layer, and service layer, and the management audit module and operation monitor module are across the three layers.

An illustration of the perceived architecture design of the crowdsourcing platform module and the different micro-functions tailored for the service layer, management audit module, and operation monitor module that adapt the blockchain technology to suit the crowdsourcing services are elaborated in detail.

Although the results of experimenting with this design are not mentioned, the model has the necessary ingredients to potentially succeed.
