This paper reemphasizes the benefits of relational databases and computer graphics in a research milieu. The hardware and software architecture is given a high-level presentation, while the database structure receives a somewhat more detailed discussion. Two interesting comments regarding the availability of specialized graphics software are made. The first relates to a 3D interactive movie-type environment; the other is associated with the emulation of an IBM 3279 alphanumeric graphic terminal to a 1024 x 1280 raster graphic terminal. Both of these capabilities would have extensive usage outside of their initial applications to biotechnology and archaeology.
