Fractals: an animated discussion (videotape)
Lorenz E., Mandelbrot B., W. H. Freeman & Co., New York, NY, 1990. Type: Book (9780716722137)
Date Reviewed: Jun 1 1991

This general introduction to fractals and chaos is similar in style to an article in Scientific American. Its main goal is to generate interest in these topics, and it fulfills this aim quite well. The film avoids mathematics, but an accompanying pamphlet covers the mathematics as far as you would expect in a Scientific American article. Each section of the pamphlet includes a useful bibliography that will allow any computer scientist to understand the algorithms that underlie the graphics and the general phenomena. The graphics can also be found in various papers and books by the producers of the video.
