Felix Hamza-Lup received a BS in Computer Science from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and his MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida, Orlando in 2001 and 2004, respectively. He is currently an assistant professor of Computer Science at Armstrong Atlantic State University (Savannah, Georgia).
He is involved with the research and development of medical simulation systems and medical training tools that use 3D imaging components and virtual reality paradigms. His research interests are: human-computer interaction, distributed systems, virtual reality, and simulation and training for medical procedures.
As a research associate at the Optical Diagnostics and Applications Laboratory (School of Optics) at the University of Central Florida, Hamza-Lup gained a strong interdisciplinary academic background. He has received grants from several organizations including NASA and the MD Anderson Cancer Center (Orlando), and has served as co-PI on several STTR and SBIR grants. He is the author of over 30 journal and referred international conference papers. In 2003, he received the Link Foundation Fellowship in Advanced Simulation and Training; in 2005, he was received the Distinguished Service Award for mentoring students in science.
